From 2 April 2025, most European citizens visiting UK need to get an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before you travel. This is a new rule for everyone who doesn't need a visa to enter the UK.
You can find more information about passports, visas and ID on our website.
If you have any questions about the ETA, the best place to find answers is the official UK government website.
12 October 2025, EU introduced the new Entry/Exit System (EES) for non-Schengen travellers entering the Schengen area. EES will replace passport stamps with electronic registration, which may mean longer queues at border control, so preregistration via the Travel to Europe app is recommended.
